Muhammadu Buhari

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari defeated his Peoples Democratic Party opponent, Atiku Abubakar at the Benue State Government House, polling unit in Makurdi.

Buhari polled 125 to narrowly defeat Abubakar who scored 124. This appears to be a surprise as the Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom is currently a member of the PDP having defected from APC to PDP.

Ortom is also the governorship candidate of the PDP for the March 9 governorship election.

Buhari also defeated Atiku at polling unit 011, Ndabagi, Bank North, Makurdi, Benue State where the state APC governorship candidate, Mr. Emmanuel Jime voted. Buhari polled 166 votes to defeat Atiku who got 17 votes.

Buhari also defeated Atiku at Wanune Township voting unit 009 where a former Benue State Governor, Senator George Akume voted. Buhari polled 304 as against Atiku’s 102. Akume who is also the senatorial candidate polled 324 as against that of his PDP opponent who scored 88 votes.
