INEC declares Udom Emmanuel winner of Akwa Ibom Governorship election

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has won the governorship election in 30 out of the 31 local government areas results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Uyo.


His closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Nsima Ekere, won only in Essien Udim LGA, which is the base of the former minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

As of the times of this report, the final result sheet was still being collated by the state Returning Officer, Prof Faraday Osasere, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin in Edo State.
