Adeola Owoyale was murdered because of 36,241 euros, six suspects remanded for four days

Six suspects were on Monday brought back to Nicosia accident court for the murder of Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale.

The suspects are: Cristian Osemudi Bremen Akhımemo, Oba Francis, Jonhattan Osukomudu, Jeffrey Oziegbe Ikpotokin, Eustese Isesele, Achazie Emeka.

The suspects were first arraigned on July 12, 2019, they were re-arraigned again on July 15 after been remanded for three days.

Five out of the eleven suspects initially arrested were released on Tuesday last week after police find them not connected to the crime.

Police Inspector Assistant Feyyaz İneci, who testified about the matter in the court on Monday, stated that Owoyale went missing on July 1, 2019 and was found dead in the trunk of his car wrapped with blanket. The car was parked in the area known as the Nicosia schools road on July 8, 2019.

According to Police Inspector Assistant Feyyaz İneci, Owoyale was murdered because of 36 thousand 241 euros which was withdrawn from the victim’s (Owoyale) account.

In an apartment raid by Northern Cyprus police, on July 11, several people were detained in connection with the murder. Statements were taken from 38 people during the three days detention period.

Five out of the eleven suspects initially arrested were released

The crime scene investigation teams found that there were blood stain on the walls and on the carpet.

The blood sample was sent to the Ankara Criminal Police Laboratory. The laboratory test showed that the blood on the crime scene matched that of Owoyale.

The Nicosia accident court Judge Cenkay Inan in previous arraignment ordered a medical check up on the suspects following claims by their lawyers that their clients were tortured while in detention.

Judge Cenkay Inan after assesses the testimony given in the presence of suspects, Cenkay Inan ordered that the suspects remain in custody for more 4 days for more medical checks. The defendants’ lawyers, did not object.

Meanwhile police investigation continues.
