The Acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has called on members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to brace up and serve as change agents in a bid to fight corrupt practices.

Magu stated this on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 when he received members of the EFCC/NYSC Community Development Service (CDS) Phalga group, who paid a Courtesy Visit to the Port Harcourt’s Zonal office of the Commission.

The Chairman who was represented by the Port Harcourt Zonal Head, Abdulrasheed Bawa, emphasized the need for the Corps members to show more commitments and dedication to the war against economic and financial crimes.

“The fight is not for the EFCC alone but for all stakeholders in the country. We must all fight for the development and unity of this country”, he said. He also stressed the need for credibility and accountability which are core values of the EFCC.

Bawa charged the Corps members to strive to do the right things all the time, stressing that the CDS group was constituted to empower Corpers to follow the right paths. “We must correct the ills of the nation by doing what is right,” he stressed.

While thanking the Corps members for synergizing with the EFCC in the fight against corruption, he tasked them to initiate changes in their immediate environments and places of primary assignments through exemplary conducts.

He also encouraged the Corps members to convey the anti- corruption message to other Nigerians in a bid to take ownership of the war against graft.

In a reaction, Adedapo Esther, President, EFCC/NYSC CDS GROUP, thanked Magu for the opportunity to join in the fight against corruption. She explained that the main purpose of the visit was to be informed of the mandates of the EFCC and to be partners in the fight against corruption.

She also used the occasion to thank the Chairman on behalf of the group, saying “thank you and we hope to establish a very wonderful relationship”.
