Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni

Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni has finally forwarded the names of commissioner- nominees to the Assembly.

The list was sent to Speaker Ahmed Lawan Mirwa on Friday.

Though the list has not been made officially public, sources at the House informed that about three former commissioners from the Ibrahim Gaidam administration made the lists.

They include Alhaji Mala Musti from Tarmuwa Local Government; Mohammed Lamin from Damaturu Local Government and Bukar Dauda from Giedam local government.

The emergence of the trio of Mala Musti, Bukar Dauda and Mohammed Lamin was undoubtedly speculated due to their close link to former governor Gaidam.

One of the shocking names on the list is Abdullahi Bego from Jakusko Local Government serving as the Director Press to Gov. Buni.

He served two other Governors, Late Sen. Mamman Ali and Gaidam, in the same capacity since 2007.

Though there were speculations that former Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam has substantially vetted the list before it was finally sent to the Assembly, there are however names on the list that are close political associates of Gov. Buni.

Senator Alkali Jajare and three former members of the House of Representative, Goni Bukar, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa and Hon. Abdullahi Kukuwa are also on the list.

Hajiya (Dr.) Mairo Ahmsi, one- time commissioner during the Gov. Bukar Abba Ibrahim, regime who left the then APP to the PDP after the fallout of the 2007 gubernatorial elections in Yobe, is also on the list.

One of Buni’s close associates Dr. Garba Ilya, who retired from Lake Chad Basin Development Authority as Managing Director a long time ago, also made the list.

The 20- man list is expected to be formally unveiled on Tuesday at plenary.
