Borno Governor Babagana Zulum has revoked the Rights of Occupancy of 10 fuel Stations in Maiduguri over hoarding fuel to the general public.
The Governor, in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government Usman Jidda Shuwa, accused owners of the station of taking advantage of the COVID- 19 pandemic to cause economic sabotage and bring hardship to the people of the state.
Zulum also warned other fuel marketers in the state with the same intention to desist from such acts, stressing that he will not hesitate to invoke his constitutional powers to address the issue.
The statement reads in full: “The Borno State Government has observed with dismay that some fueling stations operating within the state capital do not dispense Petroleum products in accordance with Federal Government regulations.
“The fueling stations are also engaged in economic sabotage by hoarding petroleum products and selling them above the approved price, the activities of these fulling stations their owners and operators is condemnable as they deliberately take the advantage of the COVID 19 pandemic to create untold hardship on the general public.

“The General Public are hereby informed that the following fueling stations are found guilty of the offences mentioned above.
1. TAFIDA BAFARI & CO. LTD, Kano Road
2. MAUZU IDRIS, Along Baga Road
3. OIL LINK, Opposite Flour Mills
4. TOTAL FILLING STATION, Kano Road
5. A. A. RANO LTD, Kano Road
6. NAN NAM, Kano Road
7. KAI MASHA ALLAHU, Kano Road
8. ALHAJI BUKAR KOLO, Kano Road
9. GALLE, Bye pass
10. KABS MARCHANT LTD, Damboa Road
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum Mni has directed the temporary withdrawal of their Right of Occupancy, pending the process of revocation of same in line with provisions of the Land Use Act and the powers vested on him by the same Act.
“Government hereby warns other filling stations to desists from such act of economic sabotage as the Borno State government will continue to monitor the activities of all filling stations and will not hesitate to take all necessary action within the ambiance of the law to bring them to justice”.
Zulum stormed filling stations in Maiduguri after reports of fuel markets hording fuel and selling at unofficial price of N125.
The governor forcefully directed the dispense of fuel to the general public at some of the filling stations he visited.
