GOV. UZODINMA DESIRES TO MAKE CIVIL SERVANTS PROUD OF WORKING FOR IMO STATE

His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma during his 100 days in office assured civil servants of improving the civil service sector and making them proud to work for Imo State government. It is interesting to say that the shared prosperity government of Gov. Uzodinma has gone ahead to make life easier and work enjoyable for our civil servants by launching brand new Coaster buses that will be stationed in all the road junctions in the state to convey workers to their respective offices without charges. This is indeed a commendable milestone that remains unbeatable.

Gov. Hope Uzodinma understands that the civil service is one sector that is pivotal to the progress of the state and government as well as the economy and therefore has decided to prioritize the civil service as one of the key areas to work on.

Surprisingly, many would have thought that immediately Gov. Hope Uzodinma assumed office, he would embark on a vendetta mission against those that hitherto robbed him of his mandate but to their dismay he remembered the civil service and was poised to get rid of the corrupt practices going on in the system before the advent of his administration.

You may recall that Gov. Uzodinma before his 100 days in office took a bold step to sanitize the civil service for effective services which led to the shocking discovery of ghost workers and the recovery of over 2billion naira of the state resources. All these clearly explains the fact that the governor was not joking neither was he mincing words over the 3R mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery which are clearly on going in the state civil service.

Today, the governor is not relenting in paying workers salaries even before the month end. This exhibits his commitment to encourage the civil servants and his readiness to make life comfortable for them. The state secretariat as well is not left out of the governor’s reconstruction agenda as it is now wearing a new look.

The quality of our civil service goes a long way in positioning the quality of the state. This asseveration posits the truth that if the civil service is left to rot, salaries not paid as and when due and the welfare of civil servants including their place of work not well taken care of by the government it exposes how incompetent and how much of a failure the government has been.

To further strengthen the governor’s resolve, multi-lateral development partners have been engaged to give support through capacity building, ICT trainings and technical expertise in strategic areas that will not only handle the issues bothering on indolence and corruption but create an atmosphere for high level of productivity in the civil service that everyone will be proud of.
