With the passing of Senator Nosike Ikpo to eternal realms, Delta State has lost one of its great elders whose life was a lesson in human productivity, principled living and passionate commitment to the cause of the people, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has said.

In his condolence message to the family, the Deputy Senate President noted that Senator Ikpo led a positively impactful life, even as he urged his family members and all who knew him to take heart.

“No doubt, Senator Nosike Ikpo was one of those great leaders whose memory we shall continue to cherish. His life yields lessons and examples worth reflecting upon for the benefit of all.

“Between 1933 when he was born and now that he just left us, there are numerous remarkable personal examples, decisions and active participation in collective efforts aimed at moving the society forward.

“Commendably, Senator Ikpo started his political career at the grassroots; he was Secretary of Ibusa Union and much later, leader of Izu Anioma and a much-respected elder in Delta State.

“He served as Councillor between 1976 to 1979 and was twice elected to the Senate – first, on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in 1979 and later, the National Party of Nigeria (NPN).

“I particularly recall the vigour with which Senator Ikpo who was President of Anioma State Movement ably presented the case for creation of Anioma State before the National Assembly,” he stated.

According to Senator Omo-Agege who stated that young Deltans should feel inspired by great Deltans, including the the late and living ones, there is genuine reason for family members of the late lawmaker to feel consoled by the impactful life he lived.
