NYSC DG parleys media, solicits more support

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shu’aibu Ibrahim has expressed profound appreciation to Youth Correspondents from various media organisations for their high sense of professionalism and responsibility  in the coverage of the Scheme’s programmes and activities.

The Director General, disclosed this during a brief media parley convened to appreciate the Youth Correspondents for sustaining their support through adequate publicity and promotion of NYSC ideals towards socio-economic development.

General Shu’aibu acknowledged the immense contributions of the media and all their support that ensured the successes recorded by the Scheme in recent times.

He further called on the press to always seek clarification on any issue in order to get balanced and factual information before publication.

The DG admitted that for the Scheme to have conducted six orientation courses this year, the strong collaboration with the media must have yielded positive results in putting the NYSC in the front burner despite the Covid-19 lockdown.

Earlier in his introductory remarks, the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations Mr Emeka-Rems Mgbemena said the brief interface is for the Director General to appreciate the Youth Correspondents for their strategic roles in supporting all the programmes of the Scheme, especially the actualization of his policy thrust since assumption of office.

A representative of the Youth Correspondents Mr John Oba of Blueprint Newspaper commended the DG for his robust media relations which created a wonderful platform for exchange of ideas that elevated the NYSC Scheme to greater heights.
