Lagos4Lagos Visioner Jandor Wins PDP Guber Primary Election

The Convener of the Lagos4Lagos Movement Olajide Adediran has won the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State held on Wednesday.

While announcing the result of the poll, the returning officer Emmanuel Ogidi said Adediran, who is also known as Jandor, polled 679 votes to beat his closest rival David Vaughan who got 20 votes.
According to the returning officer, 775 ad hoc delegates were supposed to participate in the primary election. However, 709 of them were accredited.
“The total number of accredited voters is 709, and Olajide Adediran got 679 votes, David Kolawole Vaughan had 20, and we had 10 voided votes,” he said while declaring the result.
“Having satisfied all the requirements in our guidelines, I want to announce Dr Olajide Adediran as our candidate after scoring the highest votes of 679.
“He is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
Earlier, four other contestants Olanrewaju Jim-Kamal, Adedeji Doherty, Ade Dosunmu, and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, pulled out of the exercise.
Jandor’s victory followed his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters to the PDP. He was formally received into the main opposition party, alongside his supporters, by the National Chairman of the PDP  Iyorchia Ayu in January.
At the event held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, Adediran said he joined the PDP to add value to the party. His defection, he maintained, would strengthen the PDP as the battle for the 2023 polls begins.
The PDP chairman also spoke at the event, maintaining that the party will take over Lagos.
“PDP loves Lagos. We love Nigerians. We want Lagos to return to Lagosians and we want Nigeria to belong to Nigerians,” said the PDP national chairman.
“Today, I know you are not happy. You are not happy that you gave your lives to people who deceived you about change. Are you enjoying the change now? How much is a bag of rice today?
“Today, we are happy to join Lagosians to welcome Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran to the PDP so that together, we can rescue Lagos State and rescue Nigeria from the throes of economic hardship.”
