Four Unions Extend Strike

The Cyprus Turkish Public Servants Union (KTAMS), the Public Workers Union (Kamu-İş), the Public Servants Union (KamuSen) and the Revenue and Tax Office Employees’ Union (Tax-Sen) were appointed to the Nicosia Traffic Department on Thursday last week due to the lack of personnel. He expanded the strike they had started in the Licenses Division. In addition to Nicosia, the unions also went on strike today at the Girne Driving Licenses Unit.

In a statement to TAK, KTAMS President Güven Bengihan stated that they included the Girne district in the strike today and noted that “if this insensitivity continues, if the lack of personnel due to partisan assignments is not eliminated, there will be a strike in all districts and the Motor Vehicles Unit”.

“It happened today, no one called us and informed us”

Bengihan said, “No one has called us to inform us today,” and that his actions will continue to increase and grow until the problem is resolved.

In the joint statement made yesterday by KTAMS, Kamu-Is, KamuSen and Vergi-Sen, it was stated that if the government does not take any steps to solve the problem, the strike will continue today in Nicosia Traffic Department Licenses Unit and Kyrenia Driving Licenses Unit.
