Parade held in Nicosia to mark 100th anniversary of victory day

On the 100th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day, an official parade was held on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard Nicosia.

The 100th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day is celebrated with ceremonies across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony held on Dr. Küçük Boulevard Nicosia, the President Ersin Tatar emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people closely followed the great victory, that they received light from this struggle, and that it was a source of inspiration and strength.

The ceremony started with the National Anthem, the raising of the flags, the inspection of the ceremonial units and the celebration of the people’s holidays.

After the speech of an officer on behalf of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command, the President Ersin Tatar also gave a speech. The ceremony ended with a parade.

President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the Parliament Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, President of the Supreme Court Narin Ferdi Şefik, 2nd President Mehmet Ali Talat, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia Ali Murat Başşeri, Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Commander Major General Sezai Öztürk, Security Forces Commander Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, main opposition CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman, ministers, deputies and other officials and citizens attended the ceremony.

Speaking on behalf of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command, Lieutenant Berkay Sarıkaya emphasized that they are proudly celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Great Victory.

Explaining the history of the great victory and stating that the Turkish nation has proven that they will protect their homeland to their last breath and to the last drop of blood against all kinds of attacks.

Sarıkaya noted that the foundations of the Republic of Turkey were laid under the leadership of the great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the great victory.

Stating that the Turkish Armed Forces is determinedly and resolutely the assurance of its people and the nightmare of the enemies. Sarıkaya commemorated the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades with mercy.

TATAR REMEMBERED THE GREAT LEADER MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK AND His Brothers in Arms

President Ersin Tatar stated that they celebrated the Victory Day with great enthusiasm and excitement, and respectfully commemorated the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades.

Explaining the history of the great victory and stating that the resistance against the invasion of Anatolian lands resulted in a great victory.

Tatar noted that this victory was achieved exactly 100 years ago, that Anatolia was liberated from the occupation and that it is Turkish land forever.

Tatar emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people also watched the great victory closely, that they received light from this struggle and that it was a source of inspiration and strength.

Pointing to the courage and heroism of the Turkish people in the last hundred years, Tatar said that the republic was established, that the Turkish Cypriot people also gained strength from this, and that they continued their struggle to prevent the island of Cyprus from becoming a Greek island.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people continue on their way with the motherland Turkey, taking strength from their history. Tatar commemorated the great leader and commander-in-chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades with mercy.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people believe that a lasting peace can be reached on the basis of sovereign equality in Cyprus, not on a federal basis. Tatar emphasized that Turkey also supports them from the highest authorities.

Stating that they put forward the new policy by looking at the past in Cyprus and seeing the games that have been played for years, that they will not accept the confidence-building measures that the Greek Cypriot side has cooked and saved, and that they will not accept the proposals that will spread its sovereignty to the TRNC.

Tatar said that there are currently hydrocarbon researches in the Eastern Mediterranean, and that their sovereignty and struggle is the most concrete.

Stating that their proposals to the Greek Cypriot side are on the table. Tatar emphasized that the two states support a solution based on cooperation and that they will never give up their sovereignty rights.

Stating that the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people in this geography has been preserved for years.

Tatar gave examples from history, said that the struggle continues, and commemorated all the martyrs who gave their lives for this cause and commemorated the veterans.
