Suspect arrested for stabbing a Nigerian awaits trial

The complaint against the suspect John Chiboy (M), who was arrested in connection with the attempted murder in Çatalköy, was withdrawn and secured.

John Chiboy, who was arrested in connection with the attempted murder in Çatalköy, was brought to court again today.

Police sergeant Ömer Faruk Şengil said that the suspect attempted to kill Tobi Isaiah Akintemi (M-41) by wounding him in the stomach, with a 35-centimeter knife as a result of an argument that broke out between them due to cleaning at a construction site in Çatalköy on 17 August at 12:00.

Şengil stated that Akintemi was taken under observation in the intensive care unit after the intervention at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Nicosia.

Şengil stated that the knife used in the incident was in evidence and that the suspect was identified and arrested in Girne.

The police demanded a guarantee, stating that the investigation was completed and the complaint against the suspect was withdrawn.

The court ordered the suspect to be bailed pending trial on the conditions that he deposited 30 thousand TL in cash and a surety signed a 100 thousand lira bail bond.
