Tax exemption on minimum wage published in official newspaper

Minimum wage earners will be exempted from Income Tax. Those who will benefit from this exemption have to have no other income other than the minimum wage.

The minimum wage earners whose net income has fallen below 8 thousand 600 TL, whose salary has been deducted from tax so far, will also be refunded upon their request.

The decree on exemption of the minimum wage determined during the year from Income Tax was published in the Official Gazette yesterday. The Council of Ministers also decided to present the decree to the Assembly of the Republic.

According to the decree, tax exemption will be provided to minimum wage earners in a way that does not reduce their monthly net income below 8 thousand 600 TL, but those who will benefit from this will be required to have no income other than the minimum wage.

The tax amount that has reduced the monthly net income of the employee to below 8 thousand 600 TL will be refunded upon request.

Those who request a tax refund will submit their refund requests in writing to the Income and Tax Office until the last day of January 2023.

The minimum wage determined as 8 thousand 600 TL net is in effect as of July 1, 2022.
