Girne Akçiçek Hospital Chief Physician Beyhan Berova made a statement to the Cyprus Post about the assault that took place yesterday.

“SAFETY OFFICERS ARE NOT AS EFFECTIVE AS THE POLICE”

Beyhan Berova mentioned that there are only security personnel in the hospital from around 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 in the evening and that the powers of the security guards are not as effective as the police.

Berova stated that in such cases, the security duties are not authorized and the lives of health workers may be endangered.

“WE WANT 24/7 POLICE SUPPORT”

Minister of HealthWatching Gürçağ stated that they contacted Altuğra and Girne Police Department and said, “We want 24/7 police support.”

Mentioning that the assault that took place yesterday was physical, Berova said, “Tomorrow or the next day, a gun or knife may be involved in the incident. This is our biggest fear, we are very vulnerable to assaults,” he said.
