Ersin Tatar meets Turkish Cypriot Charitable Society in New York

President Ersin Tatar met with New York Turkish Cypriot Charitable Society President Ali Sencer and members in New York.

Expressing his pleasure to meet with Turkish Cypriots living in New York, President Tatar noted that Turkish Cypriot history is rooted and national ties have always been strong.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriots living abroad never forget their homeland and that they do not break their ties with the country under all circumstances.

President Tatar said, “This is the most transparent indicator that we continue our struggle with the strength and determination we draw from each other.”

President Tatar noted that they have re-introduced the new Turkish-Cypriot policy in New York, which was put forward only on the basis of sovereign equality and the acceptance of equal international status, and that an agreement with the cooperation of two states living side by side could be possible.

Stating that they will never accept the games aiming to make the Turkish Cypriots a minority, to break their ancient ties with Anatolia and to withdraw the Motherland Turkey from the island.

Tatar stated that the situation of ensuring the security of the Turkish Cypriots within the EU mechanism is not credible.

Pointing to the importance of the historic speech of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the official recognition of the TRNC in New York, President Tatar said, “As a Turkish state in Cyprus, we will live forever as an independent and sovereign state, and there may be a treaty in which we can determine our own future. We will continue to announce it to the world.”

Emphasizing the importance of the Turkish Cypriot struggle and heroism, President Tatar said, “Everyone’s common love is our commitment to our country.”

The president and members of the Turkish Cypriot Association expressed their support for President Tatar’s policy on the Cyprus issue and stated that they tried to defend the voice and just cause of the Turkish Cypriots in the American Congress and in official authorities with the help of the Federation of Turkish-American Associations established in New York.

He said they will continue.
