Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu stated that the claims that the fuel prices in the TRNC are very expensive compared to the world do not reflect the truth, and emphasized that the prices are not arbitrarily determined, and that they are shaped according to the international markets in the TRNC as in the rest of the world.

Minister of Economy and Energy Amcaoğlu answered the allegations that fuel prices in the TRNC are very expensive compared to the rest of the world.

Comparing the fuel prices in the TRNC with those of other countries, Minister Amcaoğlu said that the price of 95 octane gasoline is 19.42 TL per liter, 98 octane is 19.73, Euro Diesel (diesel) is 25.70 TL per liter, and 95 octane gasoline is used in Southern Cyprus. He stated that the liter of 95 octane gasolinewas sold for 28.89 TL and the Euro Diesel for 33.25 TL.

Amcaoğlu said, “There are of course countries where diesel prices are cheaper than the TRNC.

The liter price of 95 octane gasoline in Turkey is 20.13 TL, while the price of Euro Diesel is 26.90 TL.

In England, the price of 95 octane is 36.46 TL per liter, and Euro Diesel is 38.97 TL, according to the current exchange rate.

In Germany, the liter price of 95 octane gasoline is 35.63 TL and the liter price of Euro Diesel is 38.74 TL.

Of course, prices can be compared over the income level of the citizen or the minimum wage.

However, the claim that the price of diesel in the TRNC is far above the world is not true.”
