Traffic will intensify with opening of schools, by Police traffic directorate

Pointing out that the 2022-2023 academic year will start in primary and secondary schools in the TRNC, Police Traffic Directorate said, “In order to prevent the problems that may occur in traffic, the Police General Directorate has taken the necessary measures as well as other authorized institutions and organizations.”

In the statement made by the Traffic Directorate, it was stated that the traffic flow, which was intense with the opening of the schools, will become more intense during the school entrance and exit hours, and the citizens were warned.

“It should not be forgotten that traffic education starts in the family and we should educate our children on how to behave in traffic.”

“Since there will be vehicle density when dropping our children to or from school, we should not park our vehicles in front of the school entrance-exit gates, causing clutter, and driving in traffic that will endanger our children’s lives should not be made.”

In the statement, it was stated that the drivers should be prepared for the dangers that may arise by following the behavior of the students especially in the areas where the schools are located, and that they should think that the children could suddenly be thrown on the road from among the parked vehicles, and they were asked to drive without speeding.

“Drivers must not pose a danger to other drivers or pedestrians by parking their vehicles at crosswalks or corners.”

The statement continued as follows:

Public transport vehicle drivers

Always obey the traffic rules and remember that they are responsible for transporting students safely to their schools.

The door of the bus should not be opened to prevent students from getting out of the vehicle before the bus stops. Passengers should be picked up and dropped in places where traffic is convenient and safe and at bus stops.

After unloading the students from the vehicle, they should always be observed after making sure that they are safe.

In case of transporting students under the age of eleven in buses and minibuses used for student transportation, there must be an accompanying person who will be responsible for the safety of the minor passengers.

Our students;

In order to go to school safely, they should be extremely careful, always walk on the sidewalk and use the right side of the road if there is no sidewalk.

They should not take to the road suddenly without checking the road, and they should avoid the actions that will endanger themselves on the road by joking with their friends while walking on the road.

When crossing the street, places with wide viewing angles, pedestrian crossings and police stations should be preferred.

Apart from these, if there is to be crossed, one should not enter the road abruptly without checking the right and left of the road. He should not stand on buses or vehicles and should not protrude any part of the body from the vehicle.

Our teachers

While preparing our children for the future, they should carefully convey information about traffic rules to them.

It should not be forgotten that the information given by the teachers will contribute more to the education of the students.

We remind you that if everyone respects each other and obeys the rules in traffic, unfortunate events can be prevented, and we wish you a peaceful, safe and accident-free education year.”
