We are not safe on roads – Mehmet Avcı

Mehmet Avcı, President of Traffic Accidents Prevention Association, said that in the TRNC, which has been collecting money since 1974, the state still carries out vehicle inspection with the “visual control” method.

Vehicle inspection is carried out at certain time intervals in order to determine whether the motor vehicles in the traffic comply with the technical conditions.

It is obligatory to have the inspection done within these time intervals. However, in some special cases, a special examination is carried out before the examination time comes.

According to TV 2020, Head of Traffic Accidents Prevention Association Mehmet Avcı made the following striking statements about the subject;

“The instrument is visually inspected. There are points that are visually inspected in the vehicle inspection.

The state has been collecting money since 74 but not buying the machine, there are two in Nicosia. The European Union has already given one of them as a gift and said do it now.

Can you believe? We are not safe on the roads. The main duty of the state is to protect our lives. There is no traffic safety by spreading smiles.

There are many things to be done until we come to the police. Do we pay for street lighting? For example, we do.

Where is the lighting? We are playing statesmanship”
