Industrialization of domestic agricultural production is necessary – Zorlu Töre

In his speech at the opening of the 3rd Güneşköy Traditional Pomegranate Fair, Zorlu Töre, President of the Assembly of the Republic, said, “The industrialization of domestic agricultural production must be ensured in this land.”

President of the Assembly of the Republic Zorlu Töre attended the opening of the 3rd Güneşköy Traditional Pomegranate Fair, organized by Güneşköy Muhtarlığı at Güneşköy Wedding Hall.

According to the statement made by the parliament, Töre, in his speech here, noted that it should be everyone’s duty to protect the agricultural production of the Güzelyurt region. “We made this land our homeland. Therefore, we do not have to migrate from this land,” said Töre, adding that they wanted to develop in this land by producing.

Reminding that there were migrations from the region due to mistakes made in the past, Töre stated that with the investments made in the region today, Güzelyurt is an indivisible part of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Noting that it should be well known that the Greeks will not sign any agreement without Güzelyurt, Töre emphasized that according to him, it is necessary to do politics and embrace the TRNC with all four hands.

Töre said that they once again greeted the call of President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to know the TRNC from Güneşköy.

Reminding that he banned the importation of pomegranate and olive oil when he was the Minister of Agriculture, Töre noted that this is a step taken to protect domestic production.

Mentioning that he knows very well how valuable production is, Töre stated that this was understood much better both during the pandemic period and during Russia’s declaration of war on Ukraine.

Stating that non-producing societies will perish and be forced to migrate, Töre emphasized that the industrialization of domestic agricultural production in this land must be ensured.

Mentioning that import-based regimes will eventually destroy production and domestic industry, Töre reminded that there are also some segments with the mentality of “If they can’t compete, they’ll go bankrupt”.
