Interior Minister says zero tolerance but making amnesty for deportees – Ayşegül Baybars

HP Deputy Ayşegül Baybars pointed out that there was an economic crisis and said, “People’s pockets are empty, inflation has exceeded 200 percent; but there is no action plan,” she said. Baybars also said that Prime Minister Ünal Üstel found himself in the Prime Minister’s seat without a vision study.

People’s Party (HP) Member of Parliament Ayşegül Baybars answered the questions as a guest on the broadcast on Cyprus Post TV.

Baybars stated that no serious policy has been put forward regarding the basic problems of society and sectors.

Explaining that there was a serious economic crisis, Baybars said, “People’s pockets are empty. They also find it difficult to find pocket money for their children, and individual debts cannot be paid.”

The government’s report card is weak; Baybars, who said that no solution could be found to the problems of the society, noted that the input costs hurt a lot.

Stating that the government deliberately and willingly wastes public resources seriously and their duties are neglected, Baybars said, “Inflation has exceeded 200 percent but there is no action plan.”

Stating that the immigration amnesty shook the state authority, Baybars said, “It makes people incline to not obey the rules. This will not be the last amnesty. If there are problems in the system, it is necessary to fix it. Interior Minister says ‘zero tolerance’ but he is making amnesty for the people he deported.”

Baybars underlined that the fact that people with tourist status will benefit from the amnesty has turned the country into a ‘don’t ask and don’t ask’, saying, “Those who benefited from the 2021 amnesty say that they will not be able to benefit from this amnesty. What about the beneficiaries of the 2019, 2016 amnesty?”

HP Deputy Aysegul Baybars noted that Ünal Üstel found himself in the prime minister’s seat without working on how to develop the country or vision.

Underlining that the government has no interest in doing anything for the benefit of society, Baybars said, “Everyone is about to pass the day and my interests are to be satisfied.”

Baybars stated that the possibility of holding an election is not seen very much, except for the local elections, and noted that they will continue their opposition duties in the Assembly.

Speaking about her party, Baybars said, “We are HP MPs and we are the founding members of this party. We are also at peace with the HP base. We continue to be their voice by consulting with them. We have a case with the management team. We also struggled for the middle way; But it doesn’t seem likely.”

Stating that the party administration is working on local elections, Baybars said, “There was a study to support independent candidates. It is not very clear at the moment, consultations are continuing,” she added.
