Idowu Owohunwa, the commissioner of police in Lagos State, has called for an investigation into the death of a driver who was killed during a fight on Tuesday morning in the Mile 2 neighborhood of Lagos State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation between truck drivers and what appeared to be police officers quickly descended into chaos, with enraged youths barricading the area and lighting bonfires along the expressway.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that Joint Task Force operatives that allegedly carried out the attack leading to the death and the hospitalisation of another victim were not from the state command.

According to Hundeyin, the Commissioner of Police visited the scene of the incident and normalcy has returned to the area while an investigation has been launched to ascertain those behind the attack.

He however added that immediate measures had been put in place with the deployment of policemen to maintain law and order throughout the area.
