Again Bandits strike Mosque in Kaduna, claiming lives of two worshippers

In a disturbing turn of events, bandits launched a deadly attack on a mosque located in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the tragic loss of two worshippers.

While the police authorities in Kaduna have yet to officially confirm the incident, community leader Sani Usman revealed to newsmen that the assailants stormed the Mosque at Anguwar Makera in Kwasakwasa community around 2 p.m. on Friday, unleashing gunfire on the worshippers.

Usman reported that two individuals fell victim to the bandits’ gunfire during the assault. The worshippers, in the midst of observing their prayers, found themselves under sudden attack, prompting many to flee the Mosque for safety.

This assault on Friday comes on the heels of another shocking incident just 24 hours prior, wherein 287 students and pupils were abducted by bandits from a government secondary and primary school in Kuriga community, Chikun Local Government Area.

A teacher who managed to escape from the kidnappers, Sani Abdullahi, recounted the harrowing experience, detailing how 100 students were taken from the primary school and 187 from the secondary school, both situated on the same premises.

The abduction sparked widespread condemnation, with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representative in Nigeria, Christian Munduate, expressing deep concern over the safety and well-being of Nigerian children, emphasizing the importance of providing a secure learning environment.

UNICEF called for urgent action to secure the safe return of the abducted children and staff, urging authorities to implement comprehensive measures to safeguard schools across Nigeria.

Similarly, President Bola Tinubu denounced the abductions, directing security and intelligence agencies to swiftly rescue the victims and ensure that justice is served to those responsible for these reprehensible acts.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu affirmed his commitment to ensuring the victims’ safe return, emphasizing the need for decisive action and justice in the face of such atrocities.
