Vice President Kashim Shettima says the government is committed to rescuing the students.

Vice President Kashim Shettima convened a crucial meeting with the leaders of the Kuriga community in Kaduna State and representatives of the families affected by the recent abduction of nearly 300 students from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area.

The meeting, held on Saturday at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, was a platform for Shettima to reassure the community and families of the government’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted students. He conveyed the president’s directive to security agencies, urging them to spare no effort in ensuring the safe return of all the children. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of responsible media coverage, urging journalists to exercise caution in their reporting to avoid hindering ongoing rescue operations.

Shettima empathized with the families, emphasizing that the Federal Government shares in their anguish over the mass abduction. Governor Uba Sani, present at the event, extended gratitude to Shettima for his visit and commended the tireless efforts of the Federal Government in coordinating the rescue mission. Despite the challenges, Governor Sani expressed optimism that the abducted children would be reunited with their families unharmed.

Furthermore, Governor Sani urged the media to refrain from sensationalizing or politicizing the incident, cautioning that such actions could impede the progress of security forces in their rescue efforts. The focus remained squarely on the safe return of the abducted students, and concerted efforts were underway to achieve this goal.
