The suspect AB, who was arrested for beating his wife seriously on the grounds that he “doesn’t want the guests to come to the house”, was brought to court and secured until his trial.
The suspect, who was arrested in connection with the “Serious Batter” issue in Nicosia, was brought before the EU court.
Police officer Fatma Çelikiz said that after the argument that broke out between them on the grounds that the suspect did not want her guests to come to the house on 01.10.2022, he severely battered his wife first in the car and then at her mother’s house.
The police also stated that the battered woman was checked by a doctor and a doctor’s report was obtained that there were marks of assault and force on her body.
Stating that the suspect was arrested by obtaining a pending warrant from the Nicosia District Court, the Police said that the suspect did not have a similar criminal record, and demanded that the suspect, who was found to have legal status in the TRNC, be given a suitable guarantee until his case is heard.
Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker ordered the suspect to be tried pending trial on the condition that he is prohibited from going abroad for the purpose of being present at the trial, that he report at the nearest police station once a week, that he deposits a cash collateral of 5 thousand TL and that 1 TRNC citizen signs a bail bond of 50 thousand TL.
