Court sentence employee to 6 months in prison

Doğu Taşdemir, who was caught stealing 2 thousand 850 TL from his workplace and while leaving the country, was sentenced to 6 months in prison.

The verdict against the accused Doğu Taşdemir, who is on trial has been announced.

On May 11, 2022, Taşdemir did not return the 2,850 TL money he collected from the customers of Sevinch Aras Carpet Washing company, where he was working in Nicosia, to the company.

Judge Barkın announced the unanimous decision of the committee composed of President Fadıl Aksun, Senior Judge Vedia Berkut Barkın, and Judge Murat Soytaç constituting the Nicosia Heavy Penal Court.

Senior Judge Vedia Berkut Barkın emphasized the seriousness of the crime committed by the accused and stated that this crime envisages a prison sentence of up to 7 years.

He stated that they evaluated against the defendant’s stealing 10 thousand TL from the gas station where he was employed.

Barkın noted that theft crimes has increased and deterrent and exemplary punishments should be given due to the public interest.

Judge Barkın touched upon all the issues in favor and against the accused and announced that they unanimously sentenced him to 6 months in prison.
