Physicians Union embark on strike

As of today, Physicians Union has stopped all external services of the Anesthesiology and Reanimation Clinic, except for the operating room, intensive care units and emergency services.

Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Nicosia will not conduct obstetrics and gynecology outpatient clinics, and will not sign when entering or leaving work.

Mustafa Taşçıoğlu, President of the Cyprus Turkish Physicians Union (Tıp-İş) said in a statement that since the ministry did not find a solution to the problems in the delivery of health services, the union would start the action process as of today and if the necessary steps were not taken, the actions would continue in the coming days.

Taşçıoğlu said that they had sent a letter to Minister of Health Monitoring Gürçağ Altuğra containing health problems and suggestions for solutions, but no concrete steps had been taken even after 3 and a half months.

Taşçıoğlu said that among the health problems, endocrinology patients and patients with diseases in the field of plastic surgery cannot receive service.

Before the end of the pandemic, the services provided in the Emergency Hospital will be terminated. Follow-up of coronavirus patients in other services.

He listed the issues of not employing the needed physicians in the emergency services and that the assistant physicians were forced to keep watch in order to fill the shortage of physicians in the emergency services.
