Herald Poems: Gone But Not Forgotten

If you have lost a loved one(s), I just want you to know it’s not the end of the world for you. It’s okay to be down for a while, you will come back stronger.  As you read this poem I hope and pray everything turns around for your good. You can read all my poems here.

Said my prayers and
Went to bed with strange
Feelings I can’t explain.

Woke up to missed calls
And message from sis.

The most painful three
Words I have ever heard,
”DAD IS DEAD” she typed.

I thought about it for a
While and I am at a loss Knowing
That I’m going to Live my
Whole Life without him.

My eyes filled with tears
My feet heavy with
My heart beating fast.

Broken heart is the only thing
That is broke about me.

I didn’t get the chance to thank you
For the sacrifices you made for us

You always there for mom and us
Through good and bad times.

I will always remember
That Special smile,
That caring heart,
That warm embrace
You always gave us.

Just writing about the pain
I felt when my daddy gone,
About the emptiness
I felt when I sat alone.

He’s gone but will
Never be forgotten.
