Herald Poems: Gone On A Good Friday

Rest in peace kid bro, You will never be forgotten. You can find all my poems here.

Went to bed with strange feelings,
My mind keep telling me to pray for him,
With my eyes closed while laying down
I prayed till I fell asleep.

Woke up at 3am with same strange feelings,
I continued praying till I fell asleep again.
It’s 8 am and wide awake, different thoughts running through my mind,
Mum number is not reachable, sister number is not going through.

It’s 7pm and I decided to call my kid sister and her phone rang,
She picked while crying,
she said; ‘Brother they said DEDE is dead’.

I never said a word to her, I hung up the call,
The pain in my heart was becoming unbearable,
He is just 16, I never had the opportunity to see him,
I never had the opportunity to fulfill all the promises I made to him.

He died a painful death,
He died on a Good Friday,
I would trade my life for his,
He left a deep hole in my heart.

You are gone but never will be forgotten,
I know you are in a peaceful place where there’s no pain,
I will always love you kid bro,
Till we meet to never part again.
